Job description
A software engineer is required to develop and support our software base including camera drivers, SDK, image acquisition and processing software. This software will be used in the life science and astronomy fields as well as supporting OEM integration of our cameras. It is also expected there will be opportunities to develop firmware targeted for microcontrollers embedded within the cameras.
Atik Cameras
Atik Cameras is a specialist manufacturer of low light imaging cameras used mainly in astronomy, life sciences, and art restoration applications. Atik has developed expertise in the precise control of CCD sensors in low-light imaging, low-noise analog-to-digital conversion circuits and in the software required to deliver the final image to the controlling computer. Our cameras are sold to astronomers through a worldwide network of distributors under the leading Atik Cameras brand. Additionally we supply cameras to OEM customers to be included in a wide variety of products. Atik is based in the city of Norwich, in England, where our cameras are designed and developed. Most of the equipment is made in our dedicated factory in Lisbon, Portugal. Our support service is UK-based.
Job requirements
Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in coding fast and efficient graphical Windows applications in C++, ideally (but not exclusively) with some .NET experience. Experience of Java, Linux and MacOS environments would be welcome. They should have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience. Some knowledge of low-level coding and an understanding of microcontroller programming and circuit design would be beneficial as would knowledge of Labview, micromanager, or other image processing applications. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about working as part of a small team and interacting with astronomers worldwide.
